We all know the Golden Rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. MikelParis, keyboardist for O.A.R., took this concept and turned it into art with his newest single, “B Good 2 Me.” Even with that important message, there was deeper meaning to the song.

“I wrote this song during the height of the Pandemic, when things were complicated and confusing, and I was inspired to simplify and embrace the idea of ‘Less is More’ both in structure, instrumentation, and lyrics,” Paris told The Tidbit.

The new song can be streamed at mikelparis.com/bgood2me. The link also features a video of Paris performing the song. Additionally, there’s ‘B Good 2 Me’ merch and the song’s lyrics in its entirety.

When The Tidbit last checked in with Paris, he was working on the documentary series “TuneTrek,” where he traveled the country and explored historical gems that aren’t widely recognized. Each episode focuses in on a historical landmark that Paris explores with an on-site expert. Additionally, every episode features an original song by Paris that is created for the landmark at hand, which allows him to have a stronger connection to the establishment.

“It’s a unique and interesting way to write music – being inspired by a historic place,” he said.

While he typically writes the songs ahead of time – with a few tweaks that may come during his visit – Paris said he challenged himself to go in to a new place “completely blank” and create a song on the spot.

“My brain does nothing but go on these creative adventures,” explains Paris. “[It’s] typical of any obsessed-creative-musician person, or any artistic person.”
