The Tidbit

January 2023. Never thought I’d see the day. Now, those days are over and we’re already into February. Who is in charge of the world calendar and why is it moving so fast?!

A lot has happened since the last time I wrote consistently. I got married and bought a house. I’ve been busy with work and my four amazing animals. My full-time job is a writer/reporter and editor so that doesn’t leave much gas in the tank to Tidbit at the end of the day (apparently enough gas to make Tidbit into a verb).

But, I’d like to be more consistent with writing for this blog o’ mine, which I still don’t fully know the purpose of. Essentially I suppose it’s to share recommendations of cool things in the hopes that they might better your life, too.

I made this blog 4.5 years ago (not counting the months I blogged on my personal website which now serves as a resumé of sorts) and have spent the bulk of that time overthinking “what it is” and “what it means” that I haven’t spent actual time working on it. This has served as a mental defense mechanism as it’s delayed putting my ideas out there due to the fear of rejection.

Anyway, I want to write here more and share more things that I think are worth sharing.

In the meantime, I’ll catch you up with my month of January:

I spent a lot of time at Knack Brewing & Fermentations which, in addition to the usual Thursday night hangs, consisted of a tiki night and a Hot Ones challenge (both are not for the faint of heart).

I also ate at Nad Tatrami in Monee. I’d been there before and the second time was just as good. The cheesecake was truly delicious.

I finally tried The Hungry Gnome after salivating over every episode of “The Big Brunch.” The rosemary biscuit is amazing. I also tried Cann which I’ve been wanting to try for a while, and it’s a very relaxing beverage. I did not try these two brands together as that experience might have been much too intense for the taste buds.

I took a ceramics class and built a mug and it was a real “bitchin’” time! (I made my mug say bitchin’ because it’s the kind of energy I want with my morning coffee.) The class was led by my friend, Courtney Zimmerman, who is incredibly talented and makes the coolest stuff that you should absolutely check out here.
