Color My Cookie a hit with kiddos

Like everyone else, my taste buds have changed over the years. One thing that has remained consistent is my love of cookies.
I’ve never met a cookie I didn’t like (well, that’s not true, but I probably still ate the whole thing). Because of this, I was super psyched when I learned of Color My Cookie. In addition to cookies, I also love art – so this was a match made in heaven.

Scout begins work on her campfire cookie.

Knowing that I would soon be seeing my little nieces (who also love cookies) I wanted to save this to work on with them. Scout (almost 3) and Remy (1 1/2) were excited to decorate cookies with me and Uncle Keke. They picked their cookie templates and got to painting.

Now, one of the cookies comes in the shape of a painter’s palette, and on the palette is edible “paint” in four different colors that work with water. The kit also comes with paint brushes.
While the girls were content with painting, I told them there was also chocolate frosting, sprinkles, graham cracker dusting and mini marshmallows. Naturally, they wanted the chocolate, marshmallows and the “pretty” sprinkles.

Before starting to decorate, we agreed that the cookies would be saved for after dinner so they had time to “cool” (there’s no baking involved, I just thought saying the cookies had to cool may help with their patience levels).
When I was turned towards Scout helping her with sprinkles, I heard a little crunch behind me followed by Remy shouting, “good cookie!” This then led to Scout taking a bite of hers. I let them have a little bit more, and the bites were taken between giggles.

They decorated two more for mom and dad while Keegan and I decorated the other two. After leaving the cookies out on the counter for a few hours, they tasted a bit stale. Nevertheless, we all had a blast with the kit.
This would be a great gift for kids ages toddler and up. The kids enjoy the decorating process and are excited to eat something that they “made.” And, it ends with everyone eating cookies. Can it get much better than that?
